Emfoundry is the micro font foundry of the type designer Jon Melton. It was created originally as part of his MA in Typographic Design postgraduate studies at the
Cambridge School of Art within ARU.
Jon Melton is a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design at the CSA. His academic research for this university focuses upon key moments in type design evolution - in an attempt to establish missed opportunities, forgotten typefaces and ultimately the true course of typographic history.
This online resource presents his commercial fonts, type specimens and proposed typefaces and letterforms, alongside his research, academic papers, articles, historical research and commissioned projects.
Jon Melton has been associated with a number of type design and typography research groups and professional bodies including: ATypI, SOTA and the Type Directors Club - New York, The Printing Historical Society, the Centre for Printing History and Culture and The Baskerville Society.
